Why a full service matters
A full car service is the most thorough routine health check your vehicle gets, going well beyond an oil change to cover the engine, brakes, steering, suspension and safety systems in detail. It is designed to catch small problems before they turn into expensive repairs or breakdowns.

The essentials: fluids and filters
Every full service starts with the basics that keep your engine running smoothly. These are the items most likely to be replaced rather than just inspected.
Fluids and filters replaced or topped up:
- Engine oil and oil filter – changed to the correct grade for your engine
- Air filter – replaced if dirty or restricting airflow
- Pollen (cabin) filter – checked for mould and blockages affecting your air conditioning
- Coolant/antifreeze – level and condition checked, topped up as needed
- Brake fluid – tested for moisture content and topped up
- Power steering fluid – level and condition checked
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time even if the level looks fine, which is why it is tested rather than just topped up during a full service.
What our technicians physically inspect
A full service is as much about inspection as replacement. Our technicians work through a detailed checklist covering the parts of your car that wear gradually and are easy to overlook.
Braking and steering
Brake pads, discs, calipers and handbrake operation are all checked for wear, along with steering components, track rods and suspension bushes for play or damage.
Tyres and wheels
Tread depth, tyre pressures (including the spare), sidewall condition and wheel alignment indicators are all assessed – tyres are your only contact with the road.
Lights, battery and electrics
All exterior and interior lights, the battery's charge and condition, and the operation of the horn, wipers and washers are tested.
Under the bonnet and underneath the car
With the car raised on the ramp, we check for oil leaks, worn drive belts, exhaust condition and corrosion on the underside of the vehicle. Drive shaft gaiters and CV joints are inspected, since a split gaiter left unnoticed can lead to a costly gearbox or driveshaft repair.
We also check the condition of the exhaust system and mountings, as a failing exhaust is one of the more common MOT failure points that a full service can catch early.
A full service is a great time to get seasonal advice too – ask us about winter tyre pressures, air conditioning re-gas, or anything unusual you've noticed while driving.

Once the service is complete, we reset your service reminder, stamp or update your digital service history, and give you a clear report of everything checked. Anything we recommend is explained in plain English with no pressure to act immediately unless it is a safety issue.
